Train to be a production operator in fields like specialty and basic chemical manufacturing, food and beverage production, oil refining, power generation and wastewater treatment. 

As an operator, your responsibilities may include a variety of functions. These may involve knowing and upholding health, safety, and environmental standards. You may also be responsible for handling, transporting, storing, and disposing of chemicals and other materials in compliance with state and federal regulations. In addition, your role could include operating, monitoring, and controlling processes; working closely with chemical engineers and technical co-workers; and performing routine equipment maintenance, including troubleshooting as needed.

You'll learn these skills in small classes, from instructors who have careers in this field, in a state-of-the-art process plant lab setting located on Delta's main campus.

Program details

This associate degree is a good choice if you are new to the industry or wishing to transfer to a bachelor's program in applied engineering. Many students also find the associate鈥檚 degree is a good platform for advancement into supervision and other leadership roles. 

The advanced certificate is a good option if you are looking to enter into a career as a production operator in chemical manufacturing, food and beverage production, oil refining, power generation, or wastewater treatment in as little as two semesters.
